In this subfield, social workers play an instrumental role in analyzing, developing, and influencing policies and legislation that impact social issues, public health, and human rights.

Policy Analysis: The process of identifying and analyzing government policies and their impacts on different groups of people, with the goal of influencing policy decisions.
Legislative Advocacy: Working to persuade lawmakers to create, amend, or repeal laws in support of clients or social issues.
Community Organizing: Mobilizing individuals and groups within a community to identify and address shared concerns, such as lack of access to services or discrimination.
Coalition Building: Collaborating with diverse groups and organizations to achieve common goals related to social justice, such as policy change or community development.
Political Campaigning: Engaging in electoral politics to support candidates or ballot initiatives that align with social work values and goals.
Media Advocacy: Using media outlets to raise awareness and promote changes to social policies and practices, such as through media interviews or social media campaigns.
Human Rights Advocacy: Promoting the protection and fulfillment of basic human rights, including advocating for marginalized or oppressed groups and challenging policies or practices that violate human rights.
Policy Implementation: The process of putting policies into action, including monitoring and evaluating their effects.
Policy Evaluation: Assessing the success of policies in achieving desired outcomes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
