A formal process used to identify hazards, estimate the likelihood of harm and determine appropriate control measures to minimize risk.

Hazard Identification: This involves identifying the potential hazards that can result in harm or injury.
Risk analysis: This involves analyzing the risks of the identified hazards.
Risk Assessment tools: These are tools used to assess risks in a particular situation. Examples include the HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) methods.
Emergency response planning: This involves preparing for the actions to be taken when an emergency occurs.
Fire safety measures: These are measures put in place to prevent fire accidents and making sure people know how to control them when they happen.
Security measures: This involves preventing unauthorized access to premises, data, and equipment.
Health and Safety Regulations: Familiarization with relevant health and safety legal requirements.
Incident reporting and investigation: Includes documenting incidents and investigating them to find out what went wrong.
Environmental factors: Identification and assessment of environmental factors which might present potential risks to safety and security.
Risk management strategies: Management of risks through the development of a comprehensive and efficient system.
Workplace safety: Identification and implementation of measures to ensure safety in the workplace.
Asset protection: Protection of valuable physical, financial, or intellectual assets through the implementation of security measures.
Human factors: Identification of human factors which might lead to potential risks.
Software security: Implementation of security measures to protect computer-based systems.
Business continuity planning: Ensuring that a disaster planning is in place in the event of an emergency or catastrophic event.
Risk communication: Communication of potential risks to those who may be affected, along with information about what they can do to avoid such risks.
Control measures: Implementation of measures to control or mitigate risks as they occur.
Safety culture: Development of a culture that promotes safety as a core value across the organization.
Safety management systems: High-level approach to regulating safety within an organization, including organization-wide safety policies, procedures, and guidelines for ongoing safety management.
Cybersecurity: Implementation of measures to protect digital data and IT systems from cyber attacks.
Hazard identification risk assessment: Hazard identification risk assessment involves identifying potential hazards or dangers and evaluating the associated risks in order to mitigate potential harm or negative outcomes.
Security risk assessment: Security risk assessment is the process of identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities to ensure the safety and protection of individuals and assets.
Fire risk assessment: Fire risk assessment is the process of evaluating potential hazards and vulnerabilities related to fire in order to develop effective preventive measures and safety protocols.
Environmental risk assessment: Environmental risk assessment is the evaluation of potential hazards and their potential impacts on the environment.
Business risk assessment: The topic of Business risk assessment involves evaluating potential risks and uncertainties that may impact the success or stability of a business.
Legal risk assessment: Legal risk assessment involves evaluating and mitigating potential legal risks and liabilities in order to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Financial risk assessment: Financial risk assessment is the evaluation and analysis of potential risks and uncertainties associated with financial investments or decisions.
Process risk assessment: Process risk assessment involves identifying and evaluating potential hazards, vulnerabilities, and their associated consequences in various stages of a system or operation to ensure safety and mitigate risks.
Health risk assessment: Health risk assessment involves evaluating the potential health hazards and consequences associated with certain behaviors, conditions, or environments.
Operational risk assessment: Operational risk assessment involves identifying and evaluating potential risks and vulnerabilities within an organization's processes, systems, and procedures to safeguard against potential threats.
Cybersecurity risk assessment: Cybersecurity risk assessment involves evaluating potential threats and vulnerabilities in digital systems to protect against cyber attacks and ensure data security.
Product risk assessment: Product risk assessment refers to the evaluation and analysis of potential risks associated with a particular product to ensure its safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Project risk assessment: Project risk assessment involves identifying, analyzing, and evaluating potential risks and uncertainties that may affect the success of a project.
Supply chain risk assessment: Supply chain risk assessment involves evaluating and mitigating potential risks to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of goods and services throughout the supply chain network.
Market risk assessment: Market risk assessment involves identifying and evaluating potential risks associated with investments in financial markets.
Reputation risk assessment.: Reputation risk assessment involves assessing the potential harm to an individual or organization's reputation in the face of various situations and decisions.

"Risk assessment determines possible mishaps, their likelihood and consequences, and the tolerances for such events."
