Riding ramps and bowls requires a different set of techniques than street skating. Learn how to drop in, pump, and carve on a ramp or bowl.

Skatepark etiquette: Understanding and abiding by the unwritten rules of the skatepark to ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone.
Basic ramp and bowl terminology: Familiarizing oneself with terms such as coping, transition, drop-in, and lip to better understand the anatomy of ramps and bowls.
Stance and foot placement: Determining whether one is regular or goofy-footed and where to place one's feet on the board for maximum stability and control.
Momentum and speed: Learning how to generate speed and maintain momentum through pumping and carving.
Body positioning and balance: Understanding how to shift one's weight and maintain balance while riding ramps and bowls.
Drop-in techniques: Mastering the art of dropping in from the deck onto the ramp or bowl, including proper foot placement, weight distribution, and commitment.
Pumping techniques: Using one's body and board to pump back and forth across a ramp or bowl to gain speed and momentum.
Carving and turning techniques: Learning how to make smooth and precise turns on the curved surface of a ramp or bowl, while maintaining speed and control.
Transition techniques: Mastering the ability to smoothly transition from one ramp or bowl to another, including negotiating the speed and angle of each transition.
Air and lip tricks: Developing the ability to launch off the lip of a ramp or bowl and perform aerial maneuvers, such as ollies, grabs, and spins.
Mini ramp: A smaller version of a halfpipe, usually with a height of 4-6 feet and a transition that is less steep.
Halfpipe: A ramp with two transitions and a flat platform in between, usually ranging from 8 to 16 feet in height. Popular in vert skateboarding.
Vert ramp: A type of halfpipe with a near-vertical transition, designed for high-speed aerial tricks.
Bowl: A large, round or oval-shaped pool with transitions and varying depths, used for carving and flow skateboarding.
Snake run: A winding ramp with multiple transitions and varying elevations, designed to mimic the flow of a natural terrain.
Street course: A complex obstacle course designed to resemble a city street, often featuring stairs, rails, and ledges.
Mega ramp: A giant halfpipe or quarterpipe with extremely tall transitions and a much longer flat platform, made for extreme vertical and distance jumps.
Big air ramp: A type of ramp designed specifically for performing massive aerial tricks, usually with a tall, steep transition.
Cradle: A circular bowl with a narrow section in the middle, creating a cradle-like shape, often used for spinning and flipping tricks.
Spine ramp: A ramp with a single transition that splits into two halves, creating a spine-like structure in the middle.
Skatercross: A type of racing course featuring obstacles such as jumps, berms, and rollers designed to test speed, agility, and endurance.
Foam pit: A cushioned pit filled with foam cubes used for practicing stunts and tricks, particularly for high-risk aerial maneuvers.
Resi ramp: A ramp covered with a special foam surface that offers more forgiving landings, ideal for practicing new tricks while minimizing injury risk.
Banked ramp: A ramp with a steep downward slope, typically used for speed racing or as a component of a larger course.
Fly box: A small ramp or platform used for practicing aerial tricks such as ollies or kickflips.
