This subfield deals with the design and development of vehicle interiors that provide comfort, convenience, and ease of use to the driver and passengers.

Anthropometry: The study of human body measurements, proportions, and dimensions used to design vehicle interiors that accommodate a range of body sizes and shapes.
Visibility: The ability to see the road and surrounding environment, including mirrors, controls, and gauges, from the driver's position.
Seating: The design, construction, and adjustment of car seats to maximize comfort, minimize fatigue, provide support in case of an accident and reduce the risk of injury.
Dashboard and Controls: The layout of the dashboard and positioning of the instruments, switches, and displays to enhance usability and safety.
Lighting: The design and configuration of lighting elements to optimize visibility, reduce glare, and improve safety for both the driver and the other road users.
Climate control: The temperature and air quality, and air circulation management inside the vehicle aimed at ensuring passenger comfort, safety and good health.
Sound system: The design of sound systems to enhance the driver's comfort and safety.
Storage and convenience features: Designing convenient storage systems for holding, books, laptops and other personal items.
Human factors: Human factors play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of automotive systems, including driver selection and training, cognitive workload, and human error.
Safety features: Design, testing and implementation of safety features in automobiles such as anti-lock brakes, airbags, seatbelts, and electronic stability control systems, among others.
Seating ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that the seating arrangement in a car is comfortable and safe for the driver and passengers.
Pedal ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that the pedals in a car are positioned and designed in a way that is safe and easy to use.
Steering wheel ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that the steering wheel is positioned and designed in a way that is safe and easy to use.
Instrument cluster ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that the instrument cluster in a car is easy to read and use.
Door handle ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that the design and positioning of the door handles in a car are safe and easy to use.
Gear shifter ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that the design and positioning of the gear shifter in a car are safe and easy to use.
Climate control ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that the climate control system in a car is easy to use and adjust.
Sound system ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that the sound system in a car is easy to use and adjust.
Lighting ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that the lighting system in a car is safe and easy to use.
Storage ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that the storage compartments and areas in a car are easily accessible and functional.
Visibility ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that the driver has good visibility while driving the car.
Auxiliary input ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that auxiliary inputs for external devices such as smartphones or MP3 players are easily accessible and easy to use.
Seatbelt ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that the seatbelts in a car are sufficient and properly placed to ensure safety.
Cup holder ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that the cup holders in a car are properly placed and designed for easy use.
Safety feature ergonomics: This type of ergonomics focuses on ensuring that all safety features in a car are easy to use and properly placed to ensure safety while driving.
