This therapy is often used to treat anxiety disorders, specifically Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). ERP involves exposing individuals to anxiety-provoking situations (such as touching a dirty doorknob) and preventing them from engaging in their typical compulsive responses (such as hand-washing).
