The network of intelligence agencies and organizations responsible for collecting and analyzing information to inform national security decisions.

National Security Policy: The principles, guidelines, and practices that govern the actions taken by a nation to safeguard its national interests and protect its citizens. It encompasses both domestic and foreign policies.
Intelligence Community: A group of agencies and organizations responsible for gathering and analyzing intelligence information to support national security policy.
Intelligence cycle: The process of collecting, analyzing, and disseminating intelligence information to support policy-making and decision-making at the national level.
Intelligence gathering: The process of collecting information from various sources, including human intelligence (HUMINT), signals intelligence (SIGINT), imagery intelligence (IMINT), and open-source intelligence (OSINT).
Intelligence analysis: The process of evaluating and processing intelligence information to produce accurate and timely assessments and recommendations for policy-makers.
Threat assessments: The analysis of intelligence information to identify and assess potential threats to national security, including terrorism, foreign nation-states, and transnational criminal organizations.
Counterintelligence: The efforts to prevent foreign intelligence services from collecting and disseminating sensitive information that could harm national security.
Cybersecurity: The protection of information systems and networks from cyber-attacks by foreign actors, terrorists, and criminal organizations.
Covert operations: The conduct of secret or clandestine activities to achieve national security objectives, including the use of intelligence collection and analysis, sabotage, and other forms of subversion.
Intelligence oversight: The process of monitoring and regulating the activities of the Intelligence Community to ensure that they comply with legal, ethical, and constitutional standards.
Central Intelligence Agency (CIA): The CIA is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating intelligence information for the President and other policymakers.
National Security Agency (NSA): The NSA works with electronic surveillance and is responsible for collecting information related to foreign intelligence and counterintelligence.
Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA): The DIA provides military intelligence to the Department of Defense for use in planning and operations.
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA): The NGA is responsible for providing geospatial intelligence, including satellite imagery and terrain data, to support national security operations.
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI): The FBI is responsible for conducting domestic intelligence and law enforcement activities to protect national security.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS): The DHS is responsible for homeland security and works to protect the country from terrorism, natural disasters, and other threats.
Department of State (DOS): The DOS is responsible for diplomatic relations with foreign countries and provides intelligence analysis to support foreign policy decisions.
Department of Energy (DOE): The DOE provides energy-related intelligence and is responsible for ensuring the security of nuclear weapons and facilities.
Department of Treasury (DOT): The DOT provides financial intelligence and works to disrupt illicit financial networks that threaten national security.
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA): The DEA is responsible for enforcing drug laws and disrupting drug trafficking networks that threaten national security.
National Reconnaissance Office (NRO): The NRO develops and operates reconnaissance satellites to support national security needs.
Marine Corps Intelligence Activity (MCIA): The MCIA provides intelligence support to the Marine Corps and other Department of Defense components.
Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Agency (AF ISR): The AF ISR provides intelligence support to the Air Force and other Department of Defense components.
Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM): The INSCOM provides intelligence support to the Army and other Department of Defense components.
Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI): The ONI provides intelligence support to the Navy and other Department of Defense components.
