This procedure is also known as an EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy). It is done to examine the upper digestive tract, which includes the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. This procedure is often recommended to investigate the causes of abdominal pain, reflux, ulcers, and other gastrointestinal symptoms.
