The process of identifying, analyzing, and evaluating potential risks to make informed decisions.

Risk Management Framework: This involves a systematic approach to risk assessment that enables identification, measurement, evaluation, and management of risks.
Risk Identification: This is the process of uncovering, recognizing, and describing potential hazards, threats, or risks that could affect an organization or project.
Risk Analysis: This involves quantifying and assessing the likelihood, severity, and impact of identified risks to prioritize them for treatment.
Risk Evaluation: This is the process of assessing the effectiveness of the risk management strategies in place and determining whether they are addressing the identified risks.
Risk Treatment: This involves developing and implementing risk mitigation or response strategies to reduce the likelihood or impact of identified risks.
Risk Monitoring: This involves tracking and reviewing the effectiveness of risk treatment strategies and making adjustments as needed.
Risk Reporting: This involves communicating risk assessments, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders to enable informed decision-making.
Risk Assessment Tools: This includes various quantitative and qualitative methods and models used to assess risks, such as asset-based, scenario-based, and cause-and-effect analysis.
Risk Communication: This relates to the effective exchange of information and dialogue between stakeholders to inform and influence decision-making.
Risk Culture: This refers to the attitudes, beliefs, and values of an organization regarding risk management, which can significantly influence risk assessment and decision-making practices.
Hazard Identification Risk Assessment: This type of risk assessment identifies potential hazards or dangers that may affect people, the environment, or assets.
Operational Risk Assessment: This type of risk assessment is concerned with the risk involved in the day-to-day operations of an organization, including potential problems with technology, staffing issues, and supply chain disruptions.
Project Risk Assessment: This type of risk assessment evaluates potential risks associated with a specific project, including risks to the timeline, budget, or quality of the project.
Strategic Risk Assessment: This type of risk assessment evaluates risks associated with the long-term strategic decisions made by an organization, including potential changes in market conditions, competitive dynamics, or new regulatory requirements.
Environmental Risk Assessment: This type of risk assessment analyzes the potential impacts of a project, process or activity on the environment, including air quality, water quality, soil conditions, and overall ecosystem health.
Financial Risk Assessment: This type of risk assessment evaluates potential financial risks associated with an investment or business decision, including credit risk, market risk, and liquidity risk.
Security Risk Assessment: This type of risk assessment assesses potential security risks in physical and cyber environments, such as unauthorized access, data breaches, and system vulnerabilities.
Compliance Risk Assessment: This type of risk assessment helps organizations evaluate their compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, including labor laws, data privacy regulations, and anti-corruption measures.
Legal Risk Assessment: This type of risk assessment assesses potential legal risks associated with business operations, such as lawsuits, fines, and other legal liabilities.

"Risk assessment determines possible mishaps, their likelihood and consequences, and the tolerances for such events."
