Nutrition and Deadlift: Learning the importance of proper nutrition that can improve performance, and help recover faster.
Conventional Deadlift: This is the most common form of deadlifting. In this technique, the lifter stands with feet shoulder-width apart behind the barbell, with the shins close to the bar. The lifter then squats down, grabs the bar with a shoulder-width or slightly wider grip, and engages the core, lifts the bar up by driving through the heels while keeping the back straight to a standing position.
Sumo Deadlift: In this technique, the feet are placed wider than shoulder-width apart, with toes pointed outwards, and the hands are usually inside the legs. Like conventional deadlift, the lifter squats down, engages the core, and lifts the bar up to the standing position.
Romanian Deadlift: Also known as "stiff-legged deadlift", here the lifter stands with their feet hip-width apart, with the barbell in front of the legs. The lifter then bends forward to grasp the bar with a shoulder-width grip, activates the core and glutes, and lifts the bar up by straightening the legs and extending the hips.
Snatch-Grip Deadlifts: In this technique, the lifter stands with the feet slightly wider apart than hip-width and grasps the bar with a very wide grip, often wider than the shoulders. The lifter then engages the core and lifts the bar off the floor while keeping the back straight to a standing position.
Deficit Deadlifts: Here, the lifter stands on a platform or a plate with the barbell on the ground. The lifter then performs the conventional deadlift or any other variation mentioned earlier by bending down to grab the bar.
Trap Bar Deadlifts: Also known as "Hex bar deadlifts", in this technique, the lifter stands in the center of the hexagonal-shaped bar, and the hands are placed on the handles at each end of the bar. The lifter then performs the deadlift by engaging the core, lifting the barbell up to a standing position.
"It is one of the three powerlifting exercises, along with the squat and bench press."
"...as well as a frequent lift in strongman."
"Two styles of deadlift are commonly used in competition settings: the conventional deadlift and the sumo deadlift."
"While both of these styles are permitted under the rules of powerlifting, only the conventional stance is permitted in strongman."
