This is a modern term used to describe the efforts by feminist scholars and activists to reinterpret the Magna Carta as a document that granted rights to women as well as men. While the original Magna Carta did not specifically mention women, some argue that the guarantee of certain rights to "free men" indirectly granted those same rights to women.
