Gender Roles: Patriarchy reinforces traditional gender roles for men and women, which typically involve the expectation of men as providers and women as caretakers.
Socialization: Patriarchal societies reinforce gender roles through socialization, where boys and girls are raised differently and taught to conform to gendered expectations.
Gender Binary: Patriarchy reinforces a strict gender binary, where individuals are classified as either male or female, based solely on their biological sex, disregarding non-binary individuals.
Male Domination: Patriarchal societies prioritize men's voices and experiences as more valuable, which can lead to male domination over women and non-binary individuals.
Sexual Objectification: Patriarchy contributes to the sexual objectification of women and often considers women as sexual objects rather than full human beings.
Slut-Shaming: Patriarchal cultures tend to uphold strict sexual norms, which often leads to slut-shaming women for expressing their sexuality, while men are praised for similar behaviors.
Beauty Standards: Patriarchy reinforces typical beauty standards that often objectify women and encourage body modification. Women are expected to be thin, young, and conventionally attractive, while men are comparatively less scrutinized.
Men as Protectors: Patriarchy promotes the idea that men are the protectors of women and that women are inherently weaker than men.
Male Violence: Indirectly, patriarchal culture may lead to increased male violence due to the expectation of dominating women and proving their masculinity.
