The study of political theories and ideals that emerged during ancient Greece and Rome, such as democracy, citizenship, and representation.

Greek city-state: The Greek city-state or polis was the foundation of Ancient Greek political thought. A city-state was an independent, self-governing community consisting of a city and its surrounding territory.
