Although the Stoics were not skeptics in the strict sense of the term, they were skeptical of the senses and their ability to provide us with accurate knowledge of the world. According to the Stoics, the senses are often deceived and can even be used against us. For this reason, the Stoics believed that we should rely on reason alone to obtain true knowledge of the world, and not on the senses. They held that we should strive to live according to reason and virtue, regardless of the judgments of the senses.
