Azimuthal Quantum Number (ℓ)

Home > Chemistry > Atomic Structure > Quantum Numbers > Azimuthal Quantum Number (ℓ)

This quantum number defines the shape of an electron’s orbital. It is also known as the angular momentum quantum number. The values of ℓ depend on the value of n and range from 0 to (n-1). The value of ℓ determines the subshell in which an electron is present.
