A set model is a small-scale mock-up of the set design that is often made out of cardboard or foam board: The designer will use the model to experiment with different ideas for the set and to explore how the scenery will fit together.
Decorative props are items that are added to the set to enhance the overall look and feel of the production: Examples might include paintings, sculptures, or other decorative objects.
Furniture and set pieces are the larger, moveable items that make up the stage space: This might include chairs, couches, tables, or other large set pieces that are central to the design.
Lighting and special effects are additional elements of set design that can be used to create mood or atmosphere: This might include colored gels or lighting effects that create the illusion of certain times or places.
Properties are smaller items that are used by actors during the performance: This might include weapons, handheld objects, or other props that help to bring the story to life.
